Meatloaf with Vidalia Onions

  • 1 1/2 lbs. of lean ground beef
  • 1 c. of soft bread crumbs.
  • May substitute bread crumbs for 3/4 cup of oatmeal (either QUICK or OLD-FASHION).
  • 1 slightly beaten egg.
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped Vidalia ® Onion (or more if you desire).
  • 1/3 c. of ketchup (may substitute with tomato sauce).
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • 1/8 tsp. of pepper
  • 2-3 teaspoons of sugar, to mix with left over tomato sauce.





  1. Combine all the ingredients except the sugar and mix thoroughly.
  2. Leaving a 1/2 inch space between the sides of the pan and meatloaf, form into a 8 inch by 4 inch shallow pan.
  3. Mix any remaining tomato sauce with 2-3 teaspoons of sugar and spread over the top of the loaf.
  4. Bake at 350° for approx. 1 hour.
